The Denver Broncos pulled off a major trade on Tuesday, acquiring Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks.

There was talk all last year that Wilson wanted out of Seattle, but they apparently talked him into staying, ending the heavy speculation. However, after a bad season, Wilson apparently wanted out again. This time around, there were far fewer signals that the Seahawks would actually trade Wilson.

That’s why Tuesday’s blockbuster deal came as a surprise.

Denver dealt two first-round picks, two-second round picks and a fifth-round pick to Seattle for Wilson. They also sent quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant and defensive lineman Shelby Harris.

That’s a big package of players and picks to send out, but Denver is getting Wilson, so they were more than happy to pay the price.

The Broncos celebrated on Twitter by sharing a GIF from the Tom Hanks movie “Castaway” that shows Hanks’ character drawing a face on his beloved volleyball, Wilson.

Yes, the Broncos have definitely landed their prized possession.

Seattle actually replied to the tweet, but they later deleted it.

Getting a franchise quarterback in a trade is extremely rare. Denver is viewing Wilson appropriately as their prized QB.
