Josh Reynolds, a free-agent wide receiver, officially signs a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos as announced by the team on Thursday.

While the financial details remained undisclosed, ESPN reported that the deal could reach up to $14 million.

Reynolds’ Role and Joining Broncos

Reynolds’ acquisition follows the recent trade of wide receiver Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns earlier this month. He now joins a lineup that includes Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr., Tim Patrick, and others.

Performance Highlights

Reynolds has been a steady presence in the Detroit Lions’ receiving unit, serving as a consistent target for quarterback Jared Goff over the past few seasons. In the 2023 season, he amassed 608 yards on 40 catches with 5 touchdowns.

His yardage achievement during the regular-season finale’s final drive was particularly notable as it triggered a $250,000 bonus clause for exceeding 600 yards for the season, ranking him third highest on the team.

Lions’ Intentions

During the NFL’s annual league meetings held this week in Orlando, Florida, Lions general manager Brad Holmes said he hoped to re-sign Reynolds.

“He’s one that was part of the original [free agent] plans,” Holmes told reporters. “Still having dialogue, we’ll just kind of see where that goes. But that’s really the only one that’s still out there that we had originally planned so far.”

Reynolds’ Career Journey

Reynolds, 29, was acquired in November 2021 after being waived by the Tennessee Titans. He signed a two-year extension with the Lions before the start of the 2022 season.

Originally drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round of the 2017 draft, Reynolds boasts a career record of 220 receptions for 2,933 yards and 19 touchdowns across 107 games. Over his seven seasons in the NFL, he has maintained an average of 13.3 yards per catch.
