Broncos' Vic Fangio: 'It’s too early' to make conclusions about QB battle between Teddy Bridgewater, Drew Lock

The Denver Broncos traded with the Carolina Panthers to acquire veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft to have the former first-round pick compete with 2019 draft selection Drew Lock for the starting quarterback job.

Head coach Vic Fangio insists the battle between the two signal-callers will be a "50-50" contest and that Bridgewater and Lock are on equal ground heading into the summer months and training camp. Per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, Bridgewater outperformed Lock during Monday's practice, but Fangio wasn't overreacting to anything he witnessed.

"I think it’s too early to come to any conclusions one way or the other — even a small conclusion. … I’m not worried about it at this point," Fangio explained.

He added Lock currently has a blister on one of his fingers.

Several weeks ago, Broncos star pass-rusher Von Miller said he believed the trade for Bridgewater "was a great move" and that a healthy competition is "what we needed in the quarterback position." It's still early, but it appears Bridgewater may have a slight advantage during the first full week of June.
