Broncos WR Courtland Sutton on addition of Russell Wilson: 'We're so excited'

Among the flurry of NFL trades in recent days, the biggest one may have been Tuesday's deal between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks. The reported pieces in the transaction include four current players and six draft picks.

The biggest name in the blockbuster that'll be switching area codes is of course, future Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson.

Broncos standout wide receiver Courtland Sutton spoke with "NFL Total Access" on Thursday about the move.

"We're so excited," the 2019 Pro Bowler said, per NFL.com digital content editor Grant Gordon. "Our room, an offense, team, we've had a lot of guys come in and contribute and every step that we've had, it's been appreciated. But to be able to have Russ come in and, having the success that he's had, having the knowledge that he has, for us as young guys, all the young talent that we have, that's what we need. We need that guy that's gonna come in and be, you know, him, who he is, what he already brings to the table. We're excited."

Sutton was selected by Denver in the second round at 40th overall during the 2018 NFL Draft and posted 42 receptions for 704 receiving yards and four touchdowns as a rookie. Sutton broke out in 2019, setting what are still career-highs in receptions (72), receiving yards (1,112) and touchdowns (six) and earning his lone Pro Bowl thus far.

The SMU product missed Week 1 of the 2020 campaign before suffering a season-ending torn ACL in Week 2. Sutton bounced back to play in all 17 games during the 2021 season and recorded 58 catches for 776 yards and two scores.

In 2019, Sutton led the Broncos in targets, receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Last season, he led Denver in targets and receiving yards.
