Browns activate DE Myles Garrett, add Ronnie Harrison to IR

The Cleveland Browns continue to mix good news with unfortunate updates regarding their defense during the second half of the regular season.

As Jake Trotter noted for ESPN, the Browns officially activated star pass-rusher Myles Garrett off the reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday and expect to have him back in the lineup for Sunday's game between the Browns and Tennessee Titans, two clubs that share 8-3 records heading into the first weekend of December.

Garrett was leading the NFL with 9.5 sacks when he landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Nov. 20, and the 24-year-old missed Cleveland's victories over the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars while observing the mandatory isolation period after he reported virus symptoms.

"There's definitely limitations on what you can do when you're not in the building and you're at your own home and discretion," head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters on Monday when speaking about Garrett's conditioning and fitness during his time away from the team's facility. "So we've tried to be there for him to make sure if he needs anything he has it. But we just haven't had our eyes on him. When you're on that list, you're really quarantining and self-isolating.”

Also on Tuesday, Cleveland placed safety Ronnie Harrison on injured reserve because of the shoulder injury he suffered on the first play from scrimmage in Sunday's win over Jacksonville. By rule, Harrison must sit for a minimum of three games on IR, but Trotter reports that the Browns believe the 23-year-old won't be ready to return until the playoffs.

The earliest Harrison could play would be at the New York Jets on Dec. 27 (Week 16). He tallied 32 total tackles, a sack and a pick-six across his first 10 games with the Browns.
