Browns add S Ronnie Harrison Jr. to reserve/COVID-19 list, still not practicing

The coronavirus-related news continues to get worse for the Cleveland Browns ahead of their Sunday evening playoff showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cleveland confirmed on Thursday afternoon that starting safety Ronnie Harrison has been added to the reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday and won't be available for Sunday's game. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that Harrison tested positive for the virus.

Harrison missed four games because of a shoulder injury but returned for last Sunday's regular-season finale versus Pittsburgh. Anybody placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list at this point of the week won't be cleared by the end of wild-card weekend.

The Browns also added practice squad linebacker Montrel Meander to the reserve/COVID-19 list but activated safety Andrew Sendejo off it.

As Daryl Ruiter of radio station 92.3 The Fan noted, the Browns have yet to practice this week due to COVID-19 issues that first started impacting the club on Dec. 26 ahead of a Week 16 loss to the New York Jets. Head coach Kevin Stefanski and two members of his staff won't travel to Pittsburgh after they tested positive for the coronavirus, and the Browns previously added three-time Pro Bowl left guard Joel Bitonio and wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge to the reserve/COVID-19 list.

It's widely believed both players tested positive for the coronavirus and won't play on Sunday.

Despite indications that the Browns are dealing with an apparent COVID-19 outbreak among players, the NFL insists that their game at Pittsburgh will go on as scheduled.
