Browns All-Pro DE Myles Garrett considered 'day-to-day' with hamstring injury

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski delivered some bad news on Tuesday, but fans shouldn't be reaching for any figurative panic buttons quite yet.

Per Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal, Stefanski has revealed that All-Pro pass rusher Myles Garrett is considered day-to-day because of a hamstring injury and was held out of practice. Andrew Gribble of the club's website added the setback is not considered serious.

The Browns understandably are protective of their key defensive asset, and not just because he signed a five-year extension that could be worth up to $125 million in July 2020. Garrett has thus far accumulated 42.5 career sacks across his four NFL regular seasons, and he notched 12 of those last year even after he was left feeling "like 50%" following a fall bout with COVID-19.

Some Cleveland fans may remember that Stefanski humorously "retired" Garrett from playing pick-up basketball in early June.

The Browns open preseason play at the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday evening, and Stefanski hasn't yet publicly said who, among his starters, will take the field for that exhibition contest. Tuesday's update suggests Garrett will be a spectator this weekend.
