As the cap number continues to rise in the NFL the contracts will get bigger and bigger that the stars bring in.

At least for right now, the Cleveland Browns have to be very happy with where they stand with DE Myles Garrett.

If he wasn’t already, Garrett should now be viewed as a bargain deal for the Browns simply because he is underpaid. Jacksonville Jaguars DE Josh Allen is the latest star defender to be paid and his five-year, $150 million contract is larger than Garrett’s.

Garrett has a five-year deal worth $125 million currently that will keep him in Cleveland until following the 2026 season. While all signs point toward the Browns giving him another mega extension at some point that will be back at the top of the market, the Browns are in a good spot with him only making $25 million a year on average currently.

San Francisco 49ers’ Nick Bosa, New York Giants’ Brian Burns, Pittsburgh Steelers’ T.J. Watt, and now Allen are all EDGE rushers that now make more than Garrett.

Coming off of a Defensive Player of the Year season, Garrett is viewed as the best defender in the NFL by the majority but isn’t currently paid like it. For the time being the Browns aren’t going to mind that working in their favor.

Garrett has 46 sacks over the last three seasons and is amid his prime with a very good Browns defense. When the time comes, he will reset the market once again in pay. For now, Garrett isn’t even a top five paid defender.
