Browns DBs Denzel Ward, Kevin Johnson removed from COVID list
The Cleveland Browns will get a little defensive help during Sunday's divisional-round matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Cleveland activated defensive backs Denzel Ward and Kevin Johnson off the reserve/COVID list on Wednesday. Both players missed the Browns' last two games, including the wild-card round victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Ward has been Cleveland's top cornerback this season. Despite missing four games, he led the NFL during the regular season with 16 passes defended.
Meanwhile, Johnson signed with the Browns as a free agent before the 2020 season. He was a starter at nickelback for the Browns.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski, who missed the team's wild-card game after testing positive for COVID-19, is on track to return for this weekend's matchup against the Chiefs. Cleveland is also hoping to get guard Joel Bitonio off the COVID list.
