The NFL Draft is about a week from the 2024 NFL Draft beginning and the Cleveland Browns will once again be in the unique spot of having no first-round pick.

Cleveland is set to have a second-round pick for the first time since the 2021 NFL Draft. The Browns have just six picks in the draft with two of them being in the seventh round.

An idea of trading out of the second round to get an extra pick has been floated and Browns GM Andrew Berry commented on the possibility.

“I will probably have a better feel to Zac’s (Jackson) question once we get to ten picks out. It really just depends on how the board falls, if I’m being truthful, Tony. So, I’m not sure as we sit here today, but we’ll see if we can break the trend of making it three years in a row without a second-round pick,” Berry said during his Thursday media availability.

Last draft, the Browns traded their second-round pick to the New York Jets for WR Elijah Moore. In the previous draft, they added more draft picks by trading out of the second round. It worked out because Cleveland found a gem in CB Martin Emerson Jr.

“I mean, it’s obviously less flexible than if you have your full slate of picks. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t manage your resources creatively, whether it’s increase the volume or increase the quality. So, a large part of it will depend on what’s available and what dance partners we may or may not have.”

Cleveland will have to see how the draft is flowing to have an idea of what they will do with pick No. 54 and the rest of their picks. It seems the Browns are good for at least one trade in the draft, so keep an eye on that.
