Browns have new positive COVID-19 test, close facility once again

The Cleveland Browns had under 24 hours to truly appreciate improving to 6-3 on the season via a 10-7 home win over the Houston Texans.

Cleveland confirmed that a player tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning. As a result, the club closed its facility and is conducting contact tracing.

It's the second consecutive Monday the Browns have gone through this process, with last week's positive test occurring after the team's bye week. Cleveland offensive lineman Chris Hubbard was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Sunday's win over Houston.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield completed a brief stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list after he was deemed a "high-risk close contact" but was cleared to face the Texans.

"We're trying to follow all the rules and keep everybody safe," coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters during his Monday media availability, per Jake Trotter of ESPN.

Both the Browns and Baltimore Ravens begin Monday at 6-3 and behind the 9-0 Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North standings. Baltimore currently owns the tiebreaker thanks to a 38-6 blowout win over the Browns in Week 1, but those two sides meet again on Dec. 14.

The Browns are scheduled to host the 3-5-1 Philadelphia Eagles this coming Sunday afternoon.
