One thing the Cleveland Browns have done since the Haslam family has owned the team is spend well.

Since they’ve improved over the last few years, they’ve become a team that spends even more. According to data from Over The Cap, no one else in the NFL is spending as much as the Browns are on their offense. The cost of Cleveland’s offense is $188.8 million for the 2024 season right now.

Deshaun Watson leads the way on the entire team with a cap hit of nearly $64 million, which is the most in the NFL. The Browns very well could restructure the cap hit and save some cap space and they probably will at some point this off-season.

The team’s top wideout Amari Cooper has a $23.8 million cap hit in 2024 and it is the last year of his deal. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that the Browns extend Cooper before next season.

Right now, Nick Chubb will take up $15.9 million of the cap space but the Browns are expected to rework his deal at some point. Chubb will soon begin running and is trending in the right direction.

Joel Bitonio ($12.1 million), Jack Conklin ($12 million), and Wyatt Teller ($11.6 million) all take up significant money up front on the offensive line.

The success of Cleveland’s offense is going to ride on whether or not Watson can be the player they envision. He’s shown periods of time where he is that guy but has not done it consistently in Cleveland yet.

Cleveland is heavily invested in being a good offense and they should be just that during the 2024 season whether it is Kevin Stefanski calling the plays, or allowing new offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey to take over.
