Browns ink QB Josh Dobbs to one-year deal
According to his agent Mike McCartney via Twitter , former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Josh Dobbs has agreed to a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns.
Dobbs has spent the previous two seasons with the Steelers but was on injured reserve for the entire 2021 campaign.
The Steelers selected Dobbs in the fourth round of the 2017 draft out of Tennessee. A dual-threat quarterback, Dobbs played for four years as a Volunteer. Dobbs finished with 7,138 passing yards through the air for a 53-29 touchdown-interception ratio. Dobbs also compiled 2,160 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns on the ground.
After drafting Dobbs in 2017, they signed him to a four-year, $2.95 million contract. In 2019, Pittsburgh traded Dobbs to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 2020 fifth-round pick. A year later, Dobbs returned to Pittsburgh after being claimed off waiver by the Steelers.
Dobbs has seen action in just six NFL games and attempted only 17 career passes (10-of-17). Dobbs last saw action in 2021, completing four of five passes for 80 yards in the Steelers' 2020 season finale against the Browns.
