Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns made wide receiver Jarvis Landry a salary cap casualty last week. Now they’re trying to bring him back into the fold.

The Browns are making an effort to re-sign Landry as well as defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney, according to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com. The possibility of a Landry return became more likely Saturday when the Browns restructured the contract of newly-acquired receiver Amari Cooper to open up roughly $15 million in cap space.

While not totally unprecedented, it would definitely be fairly unusual for a team to go about its business like this. Landry was cut after Cooper’s acquisition, as the Browns were unable to afford his previous cap hit. He didn’t exactly leave the organization on the best of terms, or so it appeared.

Things change quickly, however, as evidenced by the fact that the Browns unexpectedly landed Deshaun Watson in a trade with Houston. That certainly changed the equation for the organization, and it may have done the same for Landry as well.orts
