Browns' Myles Garrett to remain on reserve/COVID-19 list, miss Jaguars game

The Cleveland Browns will be without their best defensive player for the second consecutive week.

As Jake Trotter reported for ESPN, Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed while speaking with reporters on Monday that superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett will remain on the reserve/COVID-19 list and has already been ruled out of next Sunday's contest at the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Garrett missed practice sessions last week because of what was first referred to as an undisclosed illness, and the 24-year-old then tested positive for the coronavirus ahead of the weekend's home game against the Philadelphia Eagles that Cleveland won 22-17 to improve to 7-3 on the season.

Without Garrett's presence up front, Olivier Vernon led the Browns with a career-best three sacks of Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. In total, Cleveland registered 11 QB hits on the afternoon en route to winning a second straight contest.

Garrett entered Sunday morning leading the NFL with 9.5 sacks on the year. Trey Hendrickson of the New Orleans Saints is now tied with Garrett atop that category.

Stefanski offered additional worrisome news for the Cleveland faithful when, per Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal, he said that cornerback Denzel Ward suffered a calf injury in the win over Philadelphia. Ward will undergo an MRI and is, at best, questionable for the showdown at Jacksonville as of early Monday afternoon.

The 23-year-old recorded his second interception of the season in Sunday's victory.
