Browns QB Baker Mayfield could see contract talks stretch into 2021 regular season?

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is going to land a massive contract extension. The only question is when.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Mayfield and the Browns still have not had any substantive contract talks as training camp approaches. Cabot adds that negotiations could stretch into the 2021 regular season.

However, one of Mayfield's agents, Jack Mills, recently said that he expects a deal to be done this summer, saying, "We're not going to be dragging it out."

It would be ideal for the Browns to lock up Mayfield sooner rather than later. With both Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson expected to get paid as early as this summer, Mayfield's price could rise if both get paid before he does.

Mayfield has been consistent in three years as Cleveland's starting quarterback. Last season, he went 11-5, completing 62.8% of his passes for 3,563 yards and 26 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He also ran for 165 yards and one score.
