Browns QB Baker Mayfield: 'Surgery went great'

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield took to social media on Wednesday following the surgery he had on his left shoulder.

"Surgery went great, it was a complete success," Mayfield said in a video, which featured his non-throwing arm in a massive sling.

The fourth-year QB took the opportunity to thank the medical staff that took care of him as well as fans who reached out with prayers and well-wishes.

Mayfield first tore the labrum in his left shoulder during Week 2 but played through the pain before reinjuring it in Week 6. His decision to play through the injury made some analysts wonder if the pain in his shoulder didn't just affect how he played, but also hindered his on-field decision-making.

Whether the injury factored in to his play-calling abilities or not, Mayfield acknowledged in his video he is on his way to being more like himself.

"This is one of those steps to get back to my true self," he said. "This past year hasn't been very easy."

NFL Network's Ian Rapaport reported Wednesday recovery time after Mayfield's surgery is roughly four months, putting him on track to play next season.
