In an anticipated move, the Cleveland Browns have restructured the contract of left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. The reworked deal will clear just over $10.4 million of cap space, per a report.

This is not the first or last contract restructure by the Browns this offseason. Cleveland recently agreed to a restructured contract with cornerback Denzel Ward that got the team back onto the positive end of the salary cap. More restructures could be on the way in the near future to allow the team to make more additions to the roster, such as Saturday’s trade to acquire wide receiver Jerry Jeudy from Denver.

The new deal is a clear win for both sides. Cleveland gets some much-needed cap space, and Wills will have the luxury of knowing that his spot on the roster is secure for next season. Not that Wills Jr.’s spot on the roster was necessarily in question, but it was fair to wonder how the organization was going to sort through their logjam at tackle this offseason. The previously large cap hit, in addition to his inconsistent and underwhelming play, could have resulted in the team moving on from the fifth-year tackle. But now, with Wills accounting for a cap hit of just over $4.1 million, his spot on the roster is more than secure for next season.
