Cleveland Browns are going to welcome back Nick Chubb for the 2024 season it is just a matter of when that will happen.

On Thursday, GM Andrew Berry provided an update on Chubb that is quite promising.

“I think you guys have heard me say he’s really attacked it very aggressively since he’s been able to in the fall,” Berry explained. “He’s going at a good pace. It’s still early. You know, he actually started running on land this past week.”

Browns still showing interest in drafting a running back

Drafting a running back is still on the mind of the Cleveland Browns. Recently, the Browns completed a virtual visit with Memphis RB Blake Watson, who is an explosive prospect that can be had later in the draft.

Watson had 1,152 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns in 2023 at Memphis. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound running back runs a 4.39 40-yard dash and jumped 41.5 inches on the vertical jump. The explosive athlete can hit the big run and pull away in open space.

Cleveland doesn’t know yet when they’ll get Chubb back. Jerome Ford and free agent addition D’Onta Foreman are the top two running backs on the depth chart until Chubb returns. The team also signed Nyheim Hines and Pierre Strong is on the roster.

If the right value is there when the Browns are picking, Cleveland could look to add more youth to the room that they can develop. Whether that’s an explosive back like Watson or another player, that’ll be settled about a week from now.
