Bruce Arians once heard hot dog vendor in his headset

There has been a ton of talk about headset malfunctions during NFL games this season. It started with Mike Tomlin's post-game rant after his Pittsburgh Steelers were cut off from communication against the New England Patriots in Week 1.

It continued on Monday night when John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens had issues communicating on the team's potential game-tying drive against the Arizona Cardinals.

Likely responding to Harbaugh in an indirect way, Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians — always an interesting character — had a hilarious experience to share with the masses:

"The hot dog vendor came on and started talking about how they needed hot dogs in some section, and we couldn't get the play call," Arians said Tuesday, via ESPN. "A coincidence."

Just imagine attempting to get a play call to your quarterback and hearing some vendor attempting to hawk food or merchandise in the stands. That has to be a little distracting.

The specific situation Arians was speaking about actually took place earlier in his career against the Ravens in Baltimore.

The reigning NFL Coach of the Year did have some advice for Harbaugh and Co. a day after Arizona's hard-fought win, though:

"If they had a problem," Arians said, "they should have notified the referee and the referee would have notified us."

If one team loses communication on the sideline during the game, its opponent also has to turn off its communication. In this, the Ravens failed to actually address the issue within the game — instead using the media as a medium after the close loss.

While there was a ton made about Pittsburgh's communication issues in Week 1, most of that had to do with the fact that it was playing a Patriots team that was coming off the entire Deflategate scandal.

This is a somewhat common happening around the NFL. It's more about how the impacted team handles it during the game.

Regarding Arians' comments, he refused to state whether the sideline ordered hot dogs from the vendor. Though, knowing the head coach, that's not as unlikely as most would think.
