Bryan Bulaga and the Packers remain a strong match

The Los Angeles Chargers cut 12-year veteran Bryan Bulaga earlier this offseason. Bulaga had played in just 11 games out of a possible 33 in two seasons with the Bolts. The 33-year-old will be looking for a new team to play for in 2022. Or, he could be looking for an old team. Bulaga was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round back in 2010. He is the youngest player to ever start in a Super Bowl (XLV), which came at the age of 21. Presently, the Packers are in the process of integrating their three new rookie offensive lineman into the system while hoping that the likes of LT David Bakhtiari, G Elgton Jenkins, and C Josh Myers will all find a way to be 100 percent healthy at some point during the season. The team also cut ties with eight-year veteran and starting RT Billy Turner. Could Bulaga once again be of great help to the Packers?

The former Iowa Hawkeye has not been the healthiest offensive lineman ever (just three full seasons played). But he has started 122 out of 126 career games. He has a long history of protecting his former quarterback in Aaron Rodgers and blocking on the opposite side of All-Pro LT David Bakhtiari. Bulaga has been extremely consistent in his long career. 21 is the number of holding penalties that have been called against him. That averages out to less than two per season. It is a remarkable statline. He is one of the best Packers offensive linemen of the last decade or so.

Green Bay will have a lot of moving pieces along the offensive line. Bringing back a familiar face in the former Super Bowl winner could be just the stability that Head Coach Matt LaFleur is looking for. With plenty of cap space (roughly $17M), Green Bay could offer Bulaga a one or two-year deal to let him finish his career where it started. On Lombardi Avenue.
