Newly signed Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield held his first press conference shortly after officially signing with the team. One of the questions obviously was about his decision to sign with the Pewter Pirates.

Mayfield touched on the team’s recent success and that the environment is stable and the team is ready and knows how to win. He also emphasized that the team is ready to win and win now.

“It was important for me to be in a place that’s stable and knows how to win and do it properly. You know, I’ve gotten to see different things from my journey. That is not exactly how I drew it up, but it’s helped along the way.”

“I wanted to go somewhere where we could win right away, and this is that place.”

In short, Mayfield said everything you’d expect him or any signing to say. But he’s not wrong. This team has a great receiving corp, solid running back room and a new offensive coordinator who promises to utilize them.
