Buccaneers Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen feared to have serious knee injury

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady may have suffered a brutal loss in the early days of what could be his final training camp as an active NFL player.

Reports surfaced earlier on Thursday confirming that Buccaneers center and 2021 Pro Bowl selection Ryan Jensen was carted off the field during Thursday's training camp practice because of an unspecified left knee injury. While there's no official word on Jensen's status, updates on the situation don't sound promising.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo (h/t Nick Shook) have reported that it is believed Jensen suffered a serious knee injury. ESPN's Jenna Laine added that a source said it's "not looking good" as it pertains to the 31-year-old returning to the field anytime soon.

Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht told reporters the club may not have a definitive diagnosis on Jensen's setback for a few days because of swelling.

"When a player like that gets hurt and he's played through several injuries in his career, without missing any time, it deflates everybody. We'll wait to find out what it is and we're hoping for the best," Licht remarked during his comments.

Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk noted that Tampa Bay could contact former Cleveland Browns starter and current free-agent J.C. Tretter about replacing Jensen, if necessary. Jensen put pen to paper on a three-year, $39M extension with the Buccaneers this past March.
