Buccaneers' Tom Brady likely to become NFL all-time leader in completions vs. Bills

Stop us if you've heard this one before: Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting quarterback Tom Brady is on the cusp of making history.

As Michael David Smith explained for Pro Football Talk, Brady will enter this coming Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills just 18 regular-season completions away from breaking the all-time record for that category currently held by New Orleans Saints legend and fellow future Hall of Famer Drew Brees. Brees retired after the 2020 NFL season on 7,142 completions, while Brady connected with a target for the 7,125th time of his storied career in this past Sunday's victory at the Atlanta Falcons.

According to ESPN stats, Brady hasn't yet been held to under 20 completions by any defense this fall. The seven-time Super Bowl champion threw the football an astonishing 51 times against Atlanta and completed 38 of those attempts for 368 yards and four touchdowns.

Don't expect Brady to make a big deal out of reaching another milestone assuming he sets the record versus Buffalo. It was back in October when the 44-year-old requested play not be stopped after he set the NFL's new all-time passing yards record:

The defending champions are at 9-3, and Brady is focused solely on adding an eighth ring to his collection ahead of his 45th birthday that he'll celebrate next August.
