Buccaneers' Tom Brady reportedly 'didn't want' to divorce Gisele Bundchen

There's yet another indication that the divorce of Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen wasn't orchestrated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback.

Steve Helling and Natasha Dye of People reported Tuesday that Brady was willing to do "whatever it took to make things work" before he and Bündchen confirmed their divorce after 13 years of marriage on Friday.

A source said Brady "wanted to do whatever he needed to do to fix things" because he "didn't want the divorce and he didn't want the marriage to end." This update comes after it was reported Monday that the seven-time Super Bowl champion made a supposed "little bit too little, too late" effort to save the marriage.

During Monday's edition of the "Let's Go!" SiriusXM show and podcast, Brady told broadcaster Jim Gray that the divorce was "a very amicable situation" and that he was focused on "taking care of my family and certainly my children, and secondly, doing the best job I can to win football games."

Brady and the Buccaneers won their first two matchups of the season but have since dropped five of six contests amid seemingly countless rumors about behind-the-scenes issues involving the future Hall of Famer and Bündchen. Even before Brady and Bündchen announced the divorce, former New York Giants quarterback and current analyst Phil Simms said the 45-year-old has caused "distractions" for the Buccaneers during the ongoing campaign.

Brady declared on multiple occasions in October that he's committed to finishing at least the 2022 season with the Buccaneers. Meanwhile, the People story says that he and Bündchen have agreed to joint custody of their children and that Bündchen has relocated to Miami while Brady stays in Tampa.

The 3-5 Buccaneers host the 3-4 Los Angeles Rams this coming Sunday.
