The Tampa Bay Buccaneers should be getting a boost for their defensive front as they return from their bye week.

Rookie defensive lineman Calijah Kancey is expected to make his return from a calf injury this week, and should be active for Sunday afternoon's NFC showdown against the Detroit Lions, per Bucs senior writer Scott Smith.

Kancey suffered the original injury early in training camp, and lasted just one series in Tampa Bay's regular-season opener against the Minnesota Vikings before re-aggravating it and missing the next three games.

A first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Pittsburgh, Kancey is an undersized but explosive interior defender who would give the Bucs some added juice in the trenches as they try and defend one of the league's more impressive and balanced offenses when Detroit comes to town Sunday.
