With Hurricane Ian potentially impacting the Tampa area — as well as the Bucs’ Sunday Night Football matchup against the Chiefs — the team announced Tuesday afternoon that the Ring of Honor induction ceremony for former head coach Bruce Arians has been postponed.

Arians, who coached Tampa Bay from 2019-2021 and led the team to a victory in Super Bowl LV two seasons ago, was set to have his name added to the Ring of Honor at Raymond James Stadium at halftime of Sunday’s game. Of course, with the storm headed toward the area, it makes sense that the reception for Arians and his family — originally planned for Friday — and all Sunday activities related to the induction will be put off to a later date.

Arians will now become the 14th member of the stadium’s Ring of Honor at another home game later this seals.

The Bucs have their own plans in place for the week as Hurricane Ian heads toward the west coast of Florida. The team will be practicing at the Dolphins’ facility in Miami Gardens beginning Wednesday and leading all the way up to its matchup with Kansas City. The organization invited the players’ and coaches’ families to join them down south for the week to get them out of harm’s way.

The game between the Bucs and Chiefs certainly isn’t a lock to still be played at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, either. ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reported last night that the game could be relocated to the Midwest if needed. The storm will have passed by the weekend, but any aftermath could impact Tampa’s ability to host the contest.
