Budda Baker weighs in on DK Metcalf chase-down tackle

Breaking news: DK Metcalf is really, really fast.

And he put that speed on full display in Seattle's overtime loss to the Cardinals when he was able to chase down Arizona safety Budda Baker (who ran a 4.45 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine) and prevent a pick-six. Baker acknowledged the receiver's speed on Twitter, saying that 'DK hawked my a--' in response to the incredible effort.

It's refreshing to see someone put in as much effort as Metcalf did on a play like this, as we've all grown accustomed to seeing guys go through the motions and then clearly take their foot off the gas. But to go that hard after a speedster like Baker is the type of thing that can make a huge difference in a football game.

And despite eventually losing the game, the tackle paid immediate dividends for Seattle, as Arizona turned the ball over on downs instead of cashing in on an easy touchdown. That was not lost on head coach Pete Carroll, who gave his young receiver massive praise for the play.

"That was one of the best football plays I've ever seen," Carroll said. "It was just remarkable. You saw him realize what was happening, the opportunity, and he just used all that marvelous skill that he had and will to go run the guy down...I just think that it was an inspiring play. Nobody could miss it."

Also, credit to Baker for having some fun with the situation. Of course, it helps when your team is able to pull off a huge win over a division rival, which puts Arizona just a half-game behind Seattle in the standings.
