The Buffalo Bills have been doing very well throughout the first half of the AFC Wild Card Round against the Pittsburgh Steelers but they have a significant injury that needs to be monitored. While attempting a 49-yard field goal in the second quarter, punter Sam Martin was the holder on the play.

However, the kick was blocked by the Steelers special teams unit and Martin pulled up towards the end of the play with an apparent hamstring injury. The Buffalo Bills officially announced that Sam Martin is questionable to return with a hamstring injury but the team was never in a position to punt the football for the remainder of the first half.

It will be interesting to see how coach Sean McDermott calls the second half if the team gets into a punting situation as kicker Tyler Bass has never punted before. Martin is an 11-year veteran and has 51 punts with an average of 45.76 yards with a long of 70 yards and 24 punts inside the 20. This will be a situation to monitor throughout the second half of the game.

Who will the Buffalo Bills turn to if Sam Martin gets downgraded to out?

If the Buffalo Bills lose their punter for the remainder of the game, it will be interesting to see how the game will go. It could be a situation where coach Sean McDermott plays a four-down offense until the team is in field goal range. Even then can be difficult as Sam Martin is the holder on field goal attempts.

Currently, the Bills are leading 21-7 at halftime and that could be something the team needs to do in the second half. In the first half, Martin was called upon twice and had 99 punting yards with both kicks ending inside of the 20 yard-line.
