With pick number 147 in the NFL Draft, the Browns selected kicker Cade York out of LSU.
When drafting a kicker, that’s usually a risk. But in the case of Cade York, the Browns should be feeling good about him.
Just how good is Cade York?
In college, Cade York was one of the best.
In his three years with LSU, York only missed four extra points, going 164 for 168. His field goal percentage was a little worse, but it’s still impressive. In his three years at LSU, he took 66 field goals while making 54 of them.
One of the worries about York is that it could be difficult for him to adjust to the winds in Cleveland since their stadium is right on Lake Erie.
But many believe he can adjust to the winds considering he nailed a 57-yard field goal attempt in the fog during his time with LSU.
Cade York looks like he has a lot of potential in him. He continues to show that every day during the Browns’ training camp.
Considering how much the Browns have been let down with kickers in the past, they should be relieved they have someone like York.
How Many Times Have Kickers Let the Browns Down?
The amount of times the Browns have been let down is ridiculous.
But, the worst performance from a Browns kicker in recent memory is Zane Gonzalez in 2018 when he missed four total kicks leading the Browns to a loss by the score of 21-18 against the Saints.
The last kick he took was the culmination of an awful performance. From 52 yards out, Gonzalez kicked it wide right for his fourth miss of the game. The last miss also robbed the Browns of overtime.
What Should We Expect From Cade York?
We should definitely expect some consistency. The Browns have not gotten that in the past few years and it seems like Cade York will give the Browns that. It is a possibility he gets off to a slow start since it’s his first season, but he can only improve.
