It’s no secret that the Chicago Bears are poised to select Caleb Williams as the first overall pick on Thursday during the 2024 NFL Draft. However, analysts are more interested in who general manager Ryan Poles will take in the No. 9 spot.

Poles has been busy since the arrival of Williams in Chicago. The Bears are one of the few who utilized free agency very well, adding key pieces to provide the rookie superstar with an easy transition into the NFL.

Experienced campaigner Keenan Allen was signed to complement the destructive DJ Moore up top. The word is that Poles may target another wide receiver. However, Williams threw in a name that he thinks would be a perfect fit for the Bears.

I’d probably go [with] Olu Fashanu [Penn State offensive tackle] because I know he’d put his life on the line for me... and then one of the top 3 WRs. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the Heisman Trophy winner was quick to answer,

The reason Williams sounded confident about Fashanu is because they are old teammates. Both attended Gonzaga College High School in Washington. After graduating, they went their separate ways. Williams joined the Oklahoma Sooners, later transferring to USC in his second year, while Fashanu became a star at Penn State.

Caleb Williams is looking forward to playing for the Chicago Bears

All the suspense, the drama, and the talk about where ‘generational quarterback’ Caleb Williams ends up will end on Thursday in Detroit. Yet everyone already knows that it’s Chicago.

As a matter of fact, they are so dead set on the 21-year-old that the Poles only met with Williams out of the 4 to 5 quarterbacks that will be drafted in the first round. Williams is ready to call Windy City his home.

Chicago, if that's the place for me tomorrow, I can't wait. All I heard is great things about you all, and I'm ready to go. Caleb Williams said

Keep in mind that this is only possible because the Carolina Panthers traded the first overall pick, which landed them with Bryce Young. For Williams, playing in the NFL is a dream that began when he was just 12 years old.

Twelve years is when I set the dream and goal, and it hasn’t really hit me yet. But to be here [and] to be able to walk the stage—it’s pretty surreal for me.

Continuing further, Caleb Williams aqdded

To make space for Caleb Williams, the Bears let go of former first-round pick out of Ohio State, Justin Fields, to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Williams is predicted to bring the happy days back to Chicago, which hasn’t seen a winning season since 2018.
