Back when life was easier for Carolina Panthers fans, the then-franchise quarterback, Cam Newton, made the entire NFL world laugh.

In a late-season, Week 15  matchup with the Green Bay Packers in 2017, Newton lined up the offense, and a Packers defender could be heard saying, "It's that wheel route. It's that wheel route."

Netwon then responded with a line that will live in infamy.

"You've been watching film, huh?" Newton probed while pointing and smiling. "That's cool. Watch this."

Newton then threw a short pass to Christian McCaffrey, who scored on the play. Here is the blast for the past:

That was a point in time when things weren't so doom and gloom for the Panthers.

Carolina was 9-4 heading into the matchup, and a win over the Packers spelled good news.

But the current Panthers are far from the height of the best of the Newton years. Still, it is good to think back and laugh at how good Carolina once was with one of the most personable and electric quarterbacks in the league.
