Cam Newton: Patriots 'will turn this thing around' after loss to Bills
The New England Patriots dropped to 2-5 on the season with a 24-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. This is something Bill Belichick's squad isn't used to, but with Tom Brady gone, it's not necessarily surprising.
Brady's replacement, Cam Newton, has been less than ideal so far this season. The former Carolina Panthers signal-caller could've won the game for the Patriots on Sunday, but fumbled with 31 seconds remaining to seal the deal for Buffalo.
Speaking on WEEI's "The Greg Hill Show" on Monday, Newton spoke about how he believes the Patriots will turn things around, beginning next week with the New York Jets.
If Newton believes the Patriots are close to turning the tide, he'll have to be better in the coming weeks. The 31-year-old has completed 66% of his passes for 1,143 yards and two touchdowns against a whopping seven interceptions. His play in the passing game has been hideous, but on the ground, Newton has 59 carries for 298 yards and six touchdowns.
Despite his struggles, Belichick revealed after Sunday's game that he doesn't plan to make a change at quarterback. However, New England will have many more problems if they fall to the Jets next week, who are 0-8 on the season and the worst team in football. If Newton struggles again, he may be on his way out.
