Earlier on Saturday, former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin put Cam Newton on blast. In an interview with The Athletic, the Bills pass catcher had this to say about Newton.

“It was a bad fit from the get-go. If you would’ve put me with any other quarterback, let’s be real, you know what I’m saying?”

Newton himself has now responded to Benjamin’s criticism.

By the looks of it, Newton seems to think Benjamin’s jab is somehow funny. But in reality, the issue behind the scenes is what likely led to Carolina trading Benjamin to Buffalo midway through the 2018 season.

The good news here is that we can’t expect any further drama. Newton made sure not to reciprocate by shading Benjamin. He’s simply focused on the coming season. For the Panthers and their fans, that can’t be seen as a bad thing.
