Cardinals' DeAndre Hopkins hopes PED suspension won't jeopardize Hall of Fame chances

Arizona Cardinals wideout DeAndre Hopkins is worried about his legacy following a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy.

In an interview with Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic, Hopkins spoke about his fear that the suspension, and the stigma that comes with it, might prevent him from entry into the Hall of Fame. He denies taking performance-enhancing drugs, saying he'd take "as many lie-detector tests from whoever in this world" to prove it.

"I know my conscious and I know who I am," Hopkins said. "But obviously, (the fear of not being considered for the Hall of Fame) that's in the back of my mind because I feel like I've put so much into this craft that I want to get one day what I'm deserving I feel like."

Enshrinement in Canton is still the goal for Hopkins, who said he plans to keep playing until his numbers prove he's worthy.

Through three games this season, Hopkins has recorded 26 receptions for 298 yards and two touchdowns.

The 30-year-old is second in receptions (815) and third in yards (10,879) and touchdowns (70) among active receivers. Meanwhile, on the all-time list, Hopkins is 32nd in receptions, 39th in yards and 48th in career touchdowns.
