Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds to miss multiple games with high ankle sprain?

Despite being without star quarterback Kyler Murray and All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins because of injury issues, the Arizona Cardinals improved to 8-1 on the season via Sunday's 31-17 win at the San Francisco 49ers. Arizona encountered a new setback, however, when running back Chase Edmonds tweaked his ankle early in the game.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, tests confirmed Edmonds has a high ankle sprain and will likely miss multiple contests while recovering. Arizona hosts a 4-5 Carolina Panthers side that may soon bench quarterback Sam Darnold this coming Sunday.

Without Edmonds available, running back James Conner had a day to remember, as he rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns and also tallied five receptions for 77 yards and a third score. Per ESPN, Conner now leads the NFL with 11 total touchdowns on the campaign.

Murray was sidelined for Sunday's win because of an ankle injury and was replaced by journeyman veteran Colt McCoy, who completed 22-of-26 passes for 249 yards and a touchdown. McCoy said Monday he believes Murray will be back under center against Carolina:
