A recent report may have scared NFL teams away from drafting WVU wide receiver Devin Carter, but he lands with an NFL team nonetheless. Carter signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent, according to several reports.

On April 10, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported a source told him that Carter had a core muscle procedure and will rehab the next 4-6 weeks.

According to Schefter’s report, Carter should be ready for rookie mini-camp.

With his college career now over, Carter is hoping to get an opportunity at playing in the NFL. Carter participated in the Hula Bowl in January.

In his lone season as a Mountaineer, Carter caught 27 balls for 501 yards and scored two touchdowns. Overall throughout his entire college career, Carter recorded 145 receptions for 2,407 yards and 12 touchdowns. He spent the first five years of his career with North Carolina State before transferring to West Virginia.

Carter averaged over 18 yards per reception last season.
