The Carolina Panthers placed Tarik Cohen on the Practice Squad Injured Reserve. Cohen is dealing with a hamstring injury, and he will be out for at least four weeks. His attempted comeback will be on hold for the time being.

The Carolina Panthers running back was drafted by the Chicago Bears.

The Chicago Bears drafted Tarik Cohen in the 4th round, 119th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. Cohen served as the backup running back to Jordan Howard and served as the return specialist in his rookie season. Cohen had 370 yards on 87 carries and three rushing touchdowns, 53 receptions for 353 yards, and one receiving touchdown. He had 26 kick returns for 583 yards and 29 punt returns for 272 yards and one touchdown.

Cohen once again served as the backup to Howard and served as the return specialist in his second season. Cohen had 444 rushing yards on 99 carries and three rushing touchdowns, 71 receptions for 725 yards, and five receiving touchdowns. He had two kick returns for 22 yards and 33 punt returns for 411 yards. Cohen made the Pro Bowl and was named to the All-Pro team as a punt returner.

Cohen split carries with David Montgomery and served as the return specialist in his third season. Cohen had 213 yards on 64 carries, 79 receptions for 456 yards, and three receiving touchdowns. He also had two kick returns for 23 yards and 33 punt returns for 302 yards.

He signed a 3-year, $17.25 million contract extension with the Bears on September 20, 2020.

Cohen suffered a significant knee injury in 2020.

Tarik Cohen’s 2020 season would be cut short due to an injury. Cohen was run into during a fair catch in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons and suffered a knee injury. He ended up tearing his ACL and MCL and suffered a tibial plateau fracture. Chicago placed Cohen on the injured reserve and missed the rest of the season. Cohen had 74 rushing yards on 14 carries, six receptions for 41 yards, and one receiving touchdown.

Cohen missed the 2021 season.

Chicago placed Cohen on the reserve/physically unable to perform to start the season. He ended up missing the entire 2021 season to recover from his significant knee injury sustained last season.

Chicago released Cohen on March 16, 2022.

Cohen suffered a significant injury working out.

Cohen suffered a torn Achilles during an Instagram workout on May 17, 2022, and missed the rest of the season as a free agent.

Cohen attempted another comeback.

Cohen was cleared to play for the 2023 season and announced a comeback to the NFL on August 12, 2023. Carolina signed Cohen to their practice squad on September 13.

Hopefully, Cohen’s hamstring injury isn’t severe, and he can fully recover.
