Carr trouble in Las Vegas?: Colin Cowherd predicts QB is not in the Raiders' future plans

Colin Cowherd thinks the Raiders will trade in their Carr next season.

The bold FOX Sports host predicts that Raiders quarterback Derek Carr will not be with the team next season because he's failed to click with the new regime.

"The current Raiders head coach (Josh McDaniels)  and general manager (Dave Ziegler) didn't draft him. They inherited him." Cowherd said Friday.

Carr is floundering, not flourishing, in McDaniels' system. He's averaging 6.9 yards per attempt, the third-worst in his career. Although that isn't terrible, hovering around the league average, more is to be expected when one of the team's top targets is five-time Pro Bowler Davante Adams

Adams doesn't blame coaching for the 2-6 Raiders tumbling into the bottom of the AFC West.

"It's not on the coaches," Adams said in a Wednesday news conference. "It's really just execution from the players at the end of the day."

He didn't drop his QB's name, but the undertone of his comments suggests he's frustrated with Carr.

"Derek's reputation is... he plays it safe, and that's what Adams is saying," Cowherd said. "That's not good in 2022 NFL."

Failing to gel with the marquee star doesn't bode well for Carr, especially since his contract has an opt-out next season. According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, if the Raiders release Carr before Feb. 15th, they don't have to pay him the remainder of the guaranteed money on his contract.

He would only incur a $5.1 million cap hit, which is low for a starting QB.
