CB Troy Hill joining Browns on four-year, $24 million deal

The Cleveland Browns continue to take from the Los Angeles Rams and bolster their defense via free agency.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweeted that former Rams cornerback Troy Hill has agreed to a four-year deal that's worth $24 million to join the Browns:

As ESPN noted, the veteran defensive back who turns 30 years old in August made 16 starts for the first time in his six-year career in 2020 and recorded three defensive touchdowns, three interceptions and 10 pass breakups.

Pro Football Focus previously predicted Hill would sign a two-year contract worth $10.5 million with $7.25 million in total guaranteed money and $5.25 million fully guaranteed at signing. "Hill has produced coverage grades of 73.0 or better in three of his last four seasons, and his versatility could be appealing to a handful of teams looking for a solid veteran piece in the secondary," PFF added.

Safety John Johnson, Hill's former teammate with the Rams, joined the Browns on a three-year deal earlier in the week. Defensive end Takkarist McKinley signed with Cleveland on a one-year contract on Wednesday.
