CeeDee Lamb doesn't think Cowboys need to add veteran WR now: 'I like my young guys'

The Dallas Cowboys have somewhat of a depth problem on their hands at wide receiver, but CeeDee Lamb doesn't think it's time to sound the alarm just yet.

What hurts the Cowboys was the loss of James Washington, who suffered a fractured foot Monday in training camp that will keep him out anywhere from six to 10 weeks. The loss of Washington plus the fact that Amari Cooper was traded to the Cleveland Browns and Cedrick Wilson Jr. signed with the Miami Dolphins this offseason puts the Cowboys in a pickle. That's not even mentioning the fact that Michael Gallup, who is supposed to be Dallas' No. 2 behind Lamb, is coming off an ACL injury and won't be ready for Week 1.

The Cowboys now enter the 2022 season with Lamb as the only receiver who has ever caught a real, meaningful pass from Dak Prescott in a game. For as good as Lamb projects to be in 2022, that's very bad news for the Cowboys. Still, the third-year receiver doesn't think it's time for Jerry Jones and Co. to go out and find a veteran wide receiver to add to the group just yet.

It's worth noting that Jones and head coach Mike McCarthy may not agree with Lamb's assessment of the depth chart, so it will be interesting to see if Dallas does make a move for a veteran via either free agency or a trade.

Regarding free agency, there are still a few interesting veteran names available. That's a list that includes Odell Beckham Jr. (coming off an ACL injury and likely unable to play anytime soon), Will Fuller, Emmanuel Sanders and former Cowboy Cole Beasley.

The young wide receivers on the depth chart Lamb is hoping to see step up include Jalen Tolbert, who the Cowboys took with the 88th pick in this last draft.
