CeeDee Lamb explains how offensive change will help Dak Prescott

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb revealed the Cowboys gave the offensive keys to quarterback Dak Prescott this offseason.

"All the offense is in Dak's hands now," the Pro Bowl wideout said Monday on KRLD-FM in Dallas. "It's not necessarily being called from Mike or Kel since last year. But now it's all on Dak, however he's feeling versus the coverage. If he likes that matchup, we're gonna call that play."

Giving Prescott more control over the offense seems like an odd decision, especially after he tied the league lead in interceptions (15 in 12 games) last season. Lamb indicated the change will help Prescott because it gives him more confidence.

"He's very aggressive," Lamb said. "And he's looking for the deep ball now. And as you saw [at camp on Saturday], it's up there. So if you're not gonna back up, this is a warning to everybody, if you're not gonna back up, good luck."

In 2022, Prescott averaged 7.3 yards per attempt, the second-lowest figure in his career. Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy may want to let him attack downfield more often to see if it raises his game.

Plus, Dallas upgraded its wide receiving corps after it ranked 14th in passing yards, acquiring WR Brandin Cooks. So Prescott should take advantage and let it fly because it could help the Cowboys passing offense vault to the next level.

Prescott is under immense pressure this season since he's only won two playoff games in seven seasons and has two years remaining on his contract. The Cowboys could be granting him more responsibility to see how he responds.
