The Las Vegas Raiders are still in the midst of filling out their coaching staff under head coach Antonio Pierce, but one big name and personality is trying to make his case. Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson, aka Chad Ochocinco, is apparently looking for a spot on Pierce’s staff.

Ochocinco was one of the best receivers in the NFL for a time, but also got plenty of attention for his extremely outgoing personality which sometimes overshadowed his outstanding talent. Ochocinco has recently seen himself thrust back into the spotlight due to his ‘Nightcap’ podcast with Shannon Sharpe, but he is looking for more work.

Ochocinco is currently in Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII and while there, sent out a message on social media platform X that he was having dinner with Pierce and would ask him for a job with the Raiders in some form:

Later on in the night Ochocinco would then post a picture with Pierce claiming that he was officially a member of the Raiders coaching staff. This has yet to be confirmed by anyone within the Raiders organization, though Pierce did respond to Ochocinco’s claim with a quote via X:

Whether that is confirmation of Ochocinco’s spot with the Raiders franchise or Pierce having some fun and playing along with Ochocinco is unclear. Perhaps Ochocinco having a small role helping out receivers is the right move for Pierce and the Raiders this upcoming season.

Ochocinco is well known for his joking demeanor, and this could very well be a case of him having some fun, but until everything is confirmed, it is probably best to take this with a grain of salt.

Raiders to hire Luke Getsy as offensive coordinator

One thing that is not for question anymore is the Raiders’ new offensive coordinator, former Chicago Bears coordinator Luke Getsy. It was originally believed that the Raiders were hiring former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury for the position, but the two sides were unable to agree on contract terms.

The Raiders will now turn to Getsy, who spent the last two seasons with the Bears and posted one of the best rushing attacks in the league but was unable to truly build the dynamic offense expected with Justin Fields. Now he will have another opportunity to show what he is capable of.
