The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5 with all eyes on their struggling offense and offensive coordinator Matt Canada. As the fanbase makes this dissatisfaction known, and the outside noise from national media continues to grow, one analyst believes change could be coming if nothing improves.
If the Steelers have another poor showing against the Ravens, they'll head into the bye week with plenty of talking heads on the outside. Former quarterback and current SiriusXM host Phil Simms believes they'll make more changes before returning.
"It sounds like something’s going to happen if it doesn’t go well this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens," Simms said on Simms and The Mad Dog. "I watch them, and you know what? I come to the conclusion, and it’s easy for me. The offensive line is not very good, and I’m being kind. And the skill group, it’s just okay. To me, there’s nothing special about it.
While Simms didn't specify what changes will be made, he did comment that the entire group as a whole is failing to meet the bar.
"When you watch ’em, I’ll take last weekend’s game against the Houston Texans. Did they separate from the defenders? Did they get wide open? Could they block? I mean, the answer to everything is no. Kenny Pickett? He’s not playing well, but I don’t see just tons of opportunities to make plays," he said.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said the team is not currently considering a coaching change, and running back Najee Harris took time during his press conference to let it be known that the players were the ones failing, not Canada.
The speculations will continue, but Week 5 will be a major determining factor to how loud the noise is entering the Steelers bye week.
