The Los Angeles Chargers have already  lost several of their starters to free-agency signings, trades, and cutting to preserve cap space. The most shocking was the team deciding to part ways with perennial pass catcher, Keenan Allen

The Chargers will look like a much different team in 2024 under new head coach Jim Harbaugh. Now, to add to the growing list of players that have exited the team, cornerback Michael Davis has signed with the Washington Commanders

Davis initially joined the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and has spent his entire career with the team. Through seven seasons in the secondary, he amassed eight interceptions.

Davis being allowed to walk is not at all that surprising. In the 2023 season, he gave up eight touchdowns to opposing passers, and a passer rating of 119.2. He also allowed 801 yards, 65.2% completion, and 9.0 yards per target. These are all career highs.

The Chargers' secondary in 2023 was one of the weakest points of the team, and there is a lot of hope that they can find young and dynamic talent through the draft. At least for Davis, he can hopefully find some success playing with the Commanders.
