The Los Angeles Chargers 2022 season was filled with a ton more downs than ups. The team suffered significant injuries to multiple of their star players, which caused them to look at their depth pieces.

Players who otherwise wouldn't have gotten that chance to play played, and some took advantage of it. One Charger who most certainly did was cornerback Ja'Sir Taylor.

LA selected Taylor in the 2022 NFL Draft with the 214th overall pick in the sixth round out of Wask Forest. He played in all 17 games of the season, family serving as a piece on special teams, but unfortunately, once the injuries started to pile up, he eventually started in three games.

After practice, Taylor spoke to the media and was asked about his rookie season. He reflected on it and expressed what he learned from it.

"Yeah honestly, at the end of the season when I get back home, talk to my family, they ask me about the season. That really gives me time to think about how far I've came and the impact I have on this team and where I want to be in Year 2. It's great looking back, I wouldn't want it any other way. I got to learn from [former Chargers cornerback] Bryce Callahan, make some plays on special teams, get my feet wet on defense and it put me in a great position for this year."

Taylor showcased that he was a threat on special teams earlier in the season. Although he was used to returning kickoffs, he wreaked havoc on kickoffs on the defending side of things.

Things will be a lot different in 2023 for Taylor as he is now competing for a starting spot and has a real chance at grabbing it as he impresses during training camp and the first preseason game.

The 24-year-old already put a target on the DB group, and if they live up to expectations, he could be right. We'll see how much of an impact he and the other DBs make this season.
