Your Los Angeles Chargers found their guy on Wednesday to take over the squad. Jim Harbaugh is back to coaching in the NFL and will do so with the Chargers.

The Bolts needed to make a big splash on this front, and not only did they accomplish that, but they also got the right guy for the hire. Harbaugh was the favorite all along, but other coaches would have loved to coach in Los Angeles.

One coach who reportedly pushed to make it possible was former Seattle Seahawks and USC head coach Pete CarrollNBC Sports' Mike Florio reported as much the day before L.A. landed Harbaugh.

Earlier today, we heard that former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is making a behind-the-scenes push for consideration.

Carroll moved on from his role as the Seahawks' head coach after an underwhelming 2023 season, even though they finished above .500.

Although he is no longer the head coach, he will serve as an advisor for the team. However, it's clear he wants to continue coaching. He's led the Seahawks to new heights in his 14 seasons in the Pacific Northwest, and at only 72 years old, he's still filled with a ton of energy.

The Los Angeles Chargers did not interview Carroll for the opening job, so there was no interest on L.A.'s side, most likely. The Southern California connection is there as Carroll spent nine seasons coaching at USC and built a dynasty there. He hoped to do the same with the Bolts, but the organization decided to go another way.

The fire is still in his belly, but unfortunately for Carroll, he will not show that at the helm of Los Angeles. The former Super Bowl-winning head coach will pursue another head coaching vacancy, as he is now the best or among the best available head coaches. The clock is ticking on available NFL coaching vacancies.
