Charles Woodson: Packers should think about trading Aaron Rodgers

Reigning Most Valuable Player and presumed 2021 MVP Aaron Rodgers generated headlines last month when he explained he would let the Green Bay Packers know about his intentions for the 2022 season before free agency starts when the new NFL year opens in March.

Rodgers famously stayed away from the Packers throughout last offseason due to reported issues he had with Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst but has since said the two are "in a really good place." That hasn't stopped individuals from linking the future Hall of Famer with several would-be buyers in trade rumors.

Former Packers cornerback and Hall of Famer Charles Woodson was Rodgers' teammate from 2006 through 2012. He told NFL Network on Tuesday a divorce this winter may benefit more than just the signal-caller.

"If I’m the Packers, I’m thinking about trading Aaron Rodgers if we can," Woodson said, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

A story emerged last week Rodgers was "open" to possibly joining the Tennessee Titans, but ESPN's Turron Davenport later reported the Titans "have full intentions of moving forward with" current starter Ryan Tannehill. The Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are among other clubs that could look to land Rodgers' services, but it's unclear if either could or would match Green Bay's asking price for who may be the best active quarterback in the sport today.
