Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is well aware that the upcoming Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers will have a distinct feel compared to their clash four years ago. The key difference? Brock Purdy.

In their previous showdown, the 49ers were led by Jimmy Garoppolo, a capable starting quarterback at the time but lacking the same level of success that Purdy is enjoying.

Reid couldn’t help but express his admiration for Purdy’s performance, particularly after his remarkable comeback victory against the Detroit Lions.

“He’s a heck of a player. I remember, specifically, one of the Saturday afternoons watching him in college and I remember the head coach saying, ‘This guy’s changed our program,'” Reid explained, via NBC Sports Bay Area's Jordan Elliott.

He continued on showering Purdy with praise.

“So, changing a program, that’s something. That’s big. That’s what he is. He’s doing it in the National Football League. Last week he did as much with his legs as he did with his arm. He’s a good football player. He’s smart, got a good feel for things.”

As the Chiefs prepare to face off against the 49ers in just over a week, they hold a significant advantage in the quarterback position. Nonetheless, the Chiefs defense cannot underestimate the unique qualities that Purdy brings to the game, including his impressive accuracy, quarterback instincts and mobility.

It will be interesting to see what kind of game Purdy is able to come up with against Reid’s Chiefs in the Super Bowl. He’ll be playing on the biggest stage of his career with more pressure than he’s ever faced.

Super Bowl LVIII is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Feb. 11, promising an exciting matchup with Purdy’s emergence as a compelling storyline.
