Things are going great for the Kansas City Chiefs. They are coming off their second straight Super Bowl victory, becoming the first team in 20 years to win consecutive Lombardi Trophies. That puts them in a position to make some history next season to become the first team to three-peat.

Under Andy Reid, the Chiefs have been truly dominant. In his 11 seasons as head coach, they have yet to have a losing season and made the playoffs 10 times, including nine straight seasons. The AFC West has been won by them in eight straight seasons, advancing to the AFC Championship Game six straight years, going to the Super Bowl four times and winning it thrice.

It should come as no surprise then that Kansas City and Reid are expected to start negotiations on a new contract extension in the near future. According to sources at NFL.com, the new deal will make Reid the highest-paid head coach in the NFL.

Along with Reid, general manager Brett Veach is expected to get an extension done as well. The new extensions will replace the two years each remaining had on their respective deals that were signed in 2019 following the Chiefs’ first Super Bowl victory in this recent dynasty.

Some analysts believed it to be odd that new deals for Reid and Veach didn’t come in 2023 after they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57. Good things come to those who wait, as both are about to cash in after winning Super Bowl 58.

A big raise is expected for Reid, who reportedly ranks around eighth when it comes to head coach contracts in the NFL. He is currently third in the AFC West alone, behind the megadeals Sean Payton and Jim Harbaugh received in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

Because coach and general manager contracts aren’t public information like player contracts, there is a lot of guesswork behind who the highest-paid people are at each position. But, smart money would be on Reid and Veach not being near the top of those respective lists given how much success they have overseen with the Chiefs.
